Duck, Goose, and Grouse Hunting
Mallards, Teals, Bluebills, Buffleheads and Goldeyes
Ontario Duck Hunting at Camp Narrows Lodge, on Rainy Lake offer hunters incredible unguided or guided duck and/or Canada goose hunting packages. Our resort is located in the Northwest Bay of Rainy Lake, just North of the Minnesota/Ontario border, and about an hour drive East of Lake of the Woods. Waterfowl flock to our area of Northwestern Ontario because of the abundance of wild rice. This area of Canada has a large population of local ducks and geese, as we are located along the prime migration routes of puddle or diver ducks.

Our guides will organize duck hunts that fit all your needs. Hunting ducks in Canada, is a little different than anywhere else. The miles of unspoiled wilderness provide plenty of open space and very little competition for blind areas. Our biggest problems is probably that we do not have enough duck hunters to move the ducks around. (if you can call that a problem) Hunters can set up blinds along the miles of shoreline in the rice bays or just pull boats into the tall cattails. All the bays are very close to the resort and we will show you great spots to set up your decoys. We also have many beaver ponds located just off the lake, so hunters can also walk to these areas for some afternoon jump shooting. Ruffed grouse can also be spotted while walking to the ponds, and with miles of trails located just off the waters edge, hunters have the opportunity to hunt ducks in the morning, fish or grouse hunt in the afternoon, and then go back to the rice bays for an evening duck hunt.

These hunts are all done over decoys in the wild rice bays or beaver ponds, located within minutes of the resort, and provide duck hunters with a great Canadian waterfowl hunting experience. Canada Goose season opens on September 1st, and hunts are usually scheduled for later in the evening, when the Canadian Geese return to the bays.

Ontario Duck Hunting, Late Season
Throughout October, the diving duck species start to migrate South, meaning ringnecks, bluebills, buffleheads, goldeneyes, hooded merganser, redheads and the Northern mallards all migrate through our area by the thousands! The sound of a flock of ringnecks buzzing over your decoys can't be beat. This time of y
ear, decoys are set up off the island points or at the beginning of the rice bays, because depending on the weather and the time of year, the rice bays and ponds freeze up and the ducks all move to the lakes. Larger decoy spreads of diver decoys work best this time of year.

Make it a Ontario hunting and Fishing Combo
Add a deer or bear hunt to your duck or goose hunting package for a combination package. This part of Ontario, Canada is a great spot for trophy whitetail deer or black bear hunting. Fall fishing is also at its prime, so you can fish Rainy Lake and catch walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and crappie. September and October are probably the best times of year for crappie and smallmouth bass fishing, as crappies range from 1 - 2 1/2 pounds this time of year. At Camp Narrows Lodge, you can experience almost everything the Ontario wilderness can offer with a deer or bear Hunt in the morning, fishing in the afternoon, and duck hunting in the evening, so ask about a combination package.
